What Is The Ayurvedic Approach?

Ayurveda seeks to create and maintain health, happiness and longevity within the individual. It starts by defining each person's prakturi (or inborn body constitution) and then identifying any existing imbalances. A unique individual plan is then created (daily and periodic regimens) to bring balance through diet, exercise, herbal therapies, yoga, meditation and more.

What Is The Ayurvedic Approach?

Food As Medicine

An ancient Ayurvedic proverb says it best,  “Without proper diet, medicine is of no use. With proper diet, medicine is of no need.” -
An Ayurvedic diet  involves eating and/or restricting certain foods based on your dosha, or unique body type, along with specific preparation and consumption protocols.  .

What Makes Ayurveda Special?

  • Ayurveda considers every individual to be unique. No one-size-fits-all approach to healthcare here.
  • Ayurveda is a holistic medicine focusing not only on the physical body but also on how the mind and spirit can contribute to disease.  Take stress for example, as a non-physical element. Stress not only exacerbates almost every health condition but is also the root cause of many.
  • Ayurveda takes a proactive approach to health.  It's easier to never get a disease than to have to treat it.
  • Ayurveda is a natural medicine, recognizing the body's ability to heal itself.   The individual is the healer, the counselor/practitioner is a guide or facilitator.
  • Ayurveda places huge emphasis on diet or the concept that food is medicine. Hippocrates said it best "If diet is wrong, medicine is of no use, if diet is correct, medicine is of no need."
  • Ayurveda is an available and affordable method of healthcare for everyone!

Are You Clenching?

Take a moment and notice right now…

☐ Are your teeth touching?
☐ Is your tongue pressing against the roof of your mouth?
☐ Do your cheeks or temples feel tight?
☐ Are your shoulders slightly raised?
☐ Is your breath shallow?

If you said yes to even one, your body may be holding more tension than you realize.
